Joe Corbo is Vice President & General Counsel of the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, a position he has held since 2002 during Borgatas pre-opening development phase. In that role he is a member of Borgatas executive management team and also serves as Borgatas Compliance Officer. In 2010, Joe was appointed to then Governor-elect Chris Christies transition teams Advisory Commission on New Jerseys Gaming, Sports and Entertainment Industries. The Commissions report was published in July 2010 and became the framework for the legislation that enacted the Tourism District in Atlantic City and the re-regulation of the casinos. Joe served on this Commission while he was President of The Casino Association of New Jersey (CANJ), the collective voice for the Atlantic City casino industry, a position he held for 2 terms from 2006 until 2010. Joe has served as Borgatas trustee to CANJ from 2003 to present. From 2005-2007, Joe also served as a board member on the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority. Joe has been an executive in the gaming industry for the past 22 years. During that time, he has played significant roles in several gaming companies in both of the nations two largest gaming jurisdictions Atlantic City and Las Vegas. In 1997, Joe became the Vice President & General Counsel for the Venetian in Las Vegas. There he was extensively involved in both the pre-opening development phase and the post-opening operational phase of the then 3,000 room hotel and casino destination resort. In Atlantic City, in addition to his current role at Borgata, Joe served in various in-house legal capacities at Resorts, Harrahs and Ballys. A South Jersey native, Joe started his legal career in 1987 with the Atlantic City based Cooper Levenson law firm. He also presently serves as President of the 200 Club of Cape May and Atlantic Counties and has been a board member of the Atlantic City Boys and Girls Club since 1990.

It's beyond debate now: Smoking bans in any jurisdiction results in an average revenue decline of 20 percent, taking a minimum of two years to rebound. This session will examine the current impact and future possibilities of bans in gaming jurisdictions. Experts will discuss how to mitigate the impact and the possibility for national bans that will level the playing field for all businesses.
